There are also postgraduate and career development scholarship options, including Aboriginal postgraduate scholarships and Rhodanthe Lipsett Midwifery Postgraduate Scholarship.
There are also options for assistance for those reentering the nursing and midwifery fields.
New South Wales has been experiencing a chronic shortage of nurses since the COVID-19 pandemic. The shortage is expected to worsen in the coming years.
NSW Government has introduced programs to attract new nurses, such as the Tertiary Health Study Subsidy Program.
New South Wales currently has around 70,000 full-time equivalent registered nurses and midwives.
Modelling figures show that by the year 2030 there will be a shortfall of around 8,000 nursing staff.
The gap will be larger for enrolled nurses with an expected shortfall of around 13,000 by the year 2030.
