Breaking: Farrer By-Election Date announced

Speaker Milton Dick announced during question time today (Thursday, March 5) that writs had been issued for an May 9 by-election in Farrer.

The official announcement has triggered what many say will be contest between the Liberals, Nationals, One Nation and an independent.

The by-election was confirmed after former opposition leader Sussan Ley resigned from parliament, bringing an end to a 25-year career representing the vast seat in NSW.

Close of rolls would take place on April 8, while nominations would close on April 13.

Independent Michelle Milthorpe has already publicly announced her intention to run, and One Nation will select a candidate on Saturday, from three Party hopefuls.
