The lake is now on amber alert.
Water users should be aware of the risks associated with entering any waterway in New South Wales.
This water is untreated, its quality is unknown, and conditions can change rapidly.
Always exercise caution and assess the risks.
It's crucial to understand that all untreated water should be considered unsuitable for potable use. Boiling the water does not inactivate algal toxins, meaning it doesn't make the water safe for drinking.
Blue-green algae is naturally occurring and can reproduce quickly in still or slow-flowing water when there is abundant sunlight and sufficient nutrients.
WaterNSW will continue routine water quality monitoring and will advise of any changes as new results are received.
For information about potable water supplies and the management of blue-green algae risks in nearby treated drinking water, please contact your local council or water utility provider.
