This week the committee of the Hillston Hook Line & Sinker Fishing Festival restocked the Lachlan River with 12,500 Golden Perch (Yellowbelly) and 9,783 Murray Cod fish fingerlings.

The re-stocking efforts were made possible through the Department of Primary Industries Community Native Fish Stocking Program.

"We released half of the fingerlings at the new boat ramp by Jacksons Bridge in Hillston and the other half by the Wallanthry Weir," a spokesperson said in a social media post

"Huge thank you to Leigh and Bailey from Tara Native Fish Hatchery for delivering the fish, Vice President Adam, Committee members Kristy and Laura, as well as Ruby, Sophie, Nate and Martin for helping with the release of the fingerlings"
