30 years of Bidgee Haven

Thirty years ago, a group of locals came together to raise some money, as they all agreed the elderly needed a place to live in their twilight years.

People formed a committee years before it was officially opened in 1994 and it became a registered charity.

Some pledged a yearly amount, some made a lump sum donation, and every single dollar was valued.

Recently, these hardworking volunteers were invited to Bidgee Haven as a way of thanks; to have morning tea and reminisce on how it all happened.

The memories flew thick and fast as everyone thought back to the days before it became what it is today; a pleasant, successful home away from home.

Bright, happy, cheerful, with the freedom for residents to maintain their interests and hobbies.

Bidgee Haven fast became an asset to the area, and a credit to those who made it, and those who run it.

After raising $750,000 34 years ago, the best thing about Bidgee Haven is a lot of the people involved are enjoying the facilities themselves or enjoying their friends being able to stay with them, in the community they love so much.
