Second man charged after alleged escape from Broken Hill correctional facility

A second man has been charged after an alleged escape from a Broken Hill correctional facility.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District began investigating the whereabouts of two men aged 23 and 28 after they allegedly escaped from a correctional facility at around 9.40pm on Sunday March 9.

About 11.30am on Monday March 10, police arrested the younger man and a 31-year-old woman in his company.

This was following a police pursuit which travelled through Coomealla, Buronga and Gol Gol.

They remain before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries, about 9.30am Wednesday March 12, officers attended a home on O’Neill Street, Broken Hill, where they found the older man.

He was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with inmate escape/attempt to escape from lawful custody.

He was refused bail to appear before Dubbo Local Court today Wednesday March 12.
