Recognising that Australian farmers are the backbone of the country's food and fibre system, the survey aims to gain insights into the challenges and mental health concerns affecting regional producers, many of whom are carrying a heavy load amid ongoing pressures.
The survey represents an important opportunity for farmers and agricultural producers to share their experiences and contribute to a better understanding of wellbeing issues within the farming community. The findings will help inform support services and initiatives designed to protect the future of Australian agriculture.
Farmers and those working in regional agricultural communities are encouraged to have their say by completing the survey at www.norco.com.au/farmer-wellbeing.
The launch of the survey comes at a time when mental health and wellbeing in rural and regional communities remains a significant concern, with farmers facing unique challenges including weather events, market pressures, isolation and financial stress.
Anyone requiring immediate support is reminded that help is available through Lifeline on 13 11 14, which provides 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.
