Algae Alerts for Darling River

WaterNSW has issued a number of blue-green algal alerts for areas of the Darling River.


The red alert warning applies only to untreated water and will remain in place until monitoring and test results confirm the risk is sufficiently diminished.


Wilcannia is fitted with dual-reticulated water supply and residents should be mindful that untreated water taps that source water directly from the river will also be affected.


Red Alerts:

  • Darling River at Wilcannia
  • Lake Menindee outlet regulator
  • Darling River at Ellerslie
  • Lower Darling River at Tolarno and Pooncarie


Amber Alerts:

  • Lake Wetherell (sites three and four)
  • Copi Hollow
  • Lake Cawndilla outlet regulator
  • Darling River upstream of Weir 32
  • Burtundy and Tapio


Green Alerts:

  • Lake Wetherell (sites two and eight)
