Heat stressed animals may appear confused and lethargic.
Flying foxes, possums, gliders and kangaroos may come to the ground or low to the ground during daylight hours.
Some animals may suffer burns on their paws from hot roofs and surfaces.
Kangaroos and wallabies may be lying down and not move away quickly if startled.
Severely impacted animals may suffer convulsions or lose consciousness.
If you come across a flying-fox, a bat, a macropod, a wombat or a reptile suffering from heat stress, do not attempt to treat it. Instead call WIRES on 1300 094737.
Leave out shallow bowls of water in a shady spot for animals, and add a few sticks or stones on one side to allow smaller animals to escape if they fall in.
