Temperatures will soar in northern parts of NSW

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is warning of heatwave conditions for the region tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday.

The Monday forecasts for Ivanhoe are for a maximum of 48 degrees on Monday, but a BOM spokesperson told ABC Radio Riverina the mercury could go higher.

Hay and Wilcannia are also tipped to reach highs of 48 degrees.

Monday's forecasts:

Wilcannia - 48 max / 29 min

Hay - 48 max / 27 min

Balranald - 46 max / 25 min

Menindee - 46 max / 27 min

Ivanhoe - 48 max / 27 min

In its Summer Long-Range Forecast Bureau warns that summer is likely to be warmer than average across most of the country.
