Ms Ley has been touted amongst those intending to put their hand up for the position, following the exit from politics of Peter Dutton.
As leader of the Liberals, Mr Dutton took the Coalition to the May 3 election, and lost his own seat of Dutton, in the massive Labor win.
Ms Ley confirmed her bid on morning television today (Friday May 9)
"On Tuesday morning, when the Liberal Party room meets in Canberra, I will be putting myself forward for the position of leader of the federal party," Ms Ley said on breakfast show 'Sunrise'.
"I've listened. We got it wrong. We need to do things differently going forward, and we do need a fresh approach.
"We suffered a significant election defeat, and since then I've been having many conversations with my colleagues, with members of the community, with members of the party, indeed the Coalition, with everyday Australians."
