Update: 4.03pm - The Sturt Highway has re-opened, with stop/slow traffic controllers on site, allowing traffic through one lane at a time.
The fire has burned more than 40 hectares but is listed as under control, according to NSW Rural Fire Service.
Earlier:
The Sturt Highway is closed, between Darlington Point and the Carrathool turnoff, due to an uncontained bush fire.
Emergency services are responding to an as-yet uncontrolled grass fire at the Yarada Rest Area.
Diversions between Hay and Griffith, or Darlington Point, are via the Murrumbidgee River Road.
