Hay Lions have six teams headed to the last Golden Rivers League grand final

Hay's under 15s AFL squad kept their chances alive, by keeping Macorna scoreless in their 81 point win today, at the preliminary finals played at Wandella.

On the netball courts A and C grades all posted wins over Moulamein and Wandella respectively, but B grade went down narrowly, losing to Moulamein by six goals.

Hay Lions seniors AFL, B reserve netball and under 14s netball enjoyed the weekend off, having earned their grand final spot with wins last week.

In the senior AFL game played today, Ultima Roos defeated Moulamein 14.14-98 to 5.7.37, setting next week up for a 2024 grand final rematch.

In 2024 the Roos and Lions played a heart stopping grand final match, with the Lions losing by a single point.

With the Golden Rivers Football and Netball League being dissolved at the end of this season, the 2025 grand finals will crown the leagues final ever premiers.

The official announcement of Hay Lions acceptance into the larger Centrall Murray League was released during the week.

Reserves: Murrabit 6.8-44 defeated Hay 4.12-36

Under 18s: Wandella 8.7-55 defeated Ultima 2.8-20

Under 15s: Hay 12.9-81 defeated Macorna 0.0-0

Netball

A grade: Hay 51 defeated Moulamein 44

B grade: Moulamein 37 defeated Hay 31

B Reserve: Ultima 43 defeated Murrabit 25

C grade: Hay 51 defeated Wandella 25

Under 17s: Hay 49 defeated Ultima 33

Under 14s: Murrabit 38 defeated Macorna 31

The final ever Golden Rivers League grand final will be held next Saturday, September 6 at Macorna Recreation Reserve.
