Fatal Crash in Griffith: Police Seek Witnesses

NSW Police are appealing for public assistance following a fatal crash in Griffith yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Watkins Avenue, near Grange Close, shortly after 4:20 am on Monday, April 28, 2025. A 34-year-old man was found at the scene with critical injuries.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District established a crime scene and, with the assistance of the Crash Investigation Unit, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detectives believe the man was struck by a vehicle while walking on the road, and the motorist did not stop.

Police are urging the drivers of two vehicles who were seen travelling west on Watkins Road around the time of the crash to come forward. These vehicles are described as:

  • A light-coloured utility, possibly white or grey.
  • A dark-coloured SUV.

Investigators are also asking anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV footage from the vicinity of Watkins Avenue or Jondaryan Avenue, Griffith, between 4:00 am and 4:30 am yesterday, to contact Griffith Police on 02 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
