Police are appealing for assistance from the public after a man’s body was found beside the Newell Highway in the state’s south yesterday.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District were called to the scene 5km south of Jerilderie, about 12.30pm (Tuesday 17 June 2025), where a man’s body was found. He’d suffered multiple injuries.

While he is yet to be formally identified, he is believed to be aged in his 40s.

A crime scene has been established with an investigation now underway, assisted by specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Anyone who was travelling along that section of the Newell Highway, about five kilometres south of Jerilderie, between midnight Monday June 16 and midday yesterday Tuesday June 17 and has dashcam footage, or any information they believe relevant, is urged to come forward and contact Finley Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
