Contamination across the three-bin system continues to be an issue and Hay Shire Council will be forced to take action against repeat offenders.
“Council staff are constantly finding waste that should not be in your green lidded bin,” General Manager, David Webb said.
“If this becomes an ongoing issue at your household, Council will issue you a letter to address the problem.
“If the problem continues, a contamination notification sticker will be applied to your bin.”
Contaminants found in the green lidded bin in recent weeks include a vacuum cleaner, a tyre, electric cord and hard plastics.
To help residents get rid of bulky items that cannot go into bins, Council will have a kerbside clean-up this month from next Monday, November 11.
Items which may be put out for collection include furniture, rugs and mattresses, whitegoods, household items such as vacuum cleaners, toasters, heater and kettles and sporting equipment including bicycles.
Items which cannot be collected include building material, car parts and tyres, cement items and commercial waste such as large office printers.
Chemicals, glass, polystyrene such as pool noodles and beans from bean bags will also not be collected. It is up to individual residents to schedule their kerbside clean-up.
To do so, call into the Council office to book your spot. Bookings will not be accepted by phone.
