Police are asking for public assistance to locate an unknown missing push bike rider.
Sunday October 20, a man was seen by a member of the public dismounting his push bike and walking into bushland along the Barrier Highway three kilometres east of Wool Track Road, Cobar.
When the bike was seen at the same location at 7am Monday October 21, officers from Central North Police District were contacted.
The man is described as being of possibly Indian Sub-Continental appearance, about 30 years old, 170 cm tall, dark complexion with a black beard and moustache.
He was wearing a cycling outfit consisting of a hi-vis yellow vest, long sleeve grey shirt, Lycra pants and orange striped shoes.
The bike is described as a red coloured Shimano Ascent DSS-66.
Police have released an image of the push bike (below) which will be forensically examined.
There are serious concerns for the man’s welfare and anyone who may be aware of his identity is urged to contact Cobar Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A major air and land search to locate the man will be launched later today.
