Two men charged after allegedly stealing from Tharbogang tip

Two men have been charged after allegedly stealing items from the Tharbogang landfill facility while attempting to conceal their vehicle's registration plates.

Police were conducting patrols near the tip around 10.20pm on Monday, October 28, following recent reports of trespassing and theft at the site.

About 10.30pm, officers spotted a silver Nissan Navara inside the landfill facility with surgical face masks covering the registration plates.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with two men, who were also wearing face masks.

Officers allegedly found a red pushbike and a sewing machine inside the vehicle, which police claim had been taken from the landfill facility by the pair.

Both men were arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station, where they were charged with stealing and entering enclosed lands.

The matter will be dealt with by the courts at a later date.
