Emergency services were called to Glendara Road, White Cliffs, following a single-vehicle crash involving an overturned ute on Friday at 7pm.
Both the driver, a 16-year-old boy, and passenger, the nine-year-old boy, were taken to White Cliffs Hospital.
Tragically, the younger boy was declared deceased on arrival.
The older boy was treated in hospital, and will be subjected to mandatory testing.
“Police have established a crime scene on the property and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash,” a police spokesperson said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
