Scholarships and Cadetships for Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery StudentsNSW Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Cadetship

Aboriginal nursing and midwifery students in New South Wales can now access financial and career support through the NSW Health Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship and Cadetship Program.

The program, initiated by NSW Health, aims to increase the number of Aboriginal nurses and midwives working in the public health system and enhance career development opportunities for Indigenous health professionals.


Scholarship Opportunities:

  • Undergraduate Scholarships: Up to $1,000 per subject for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery.
  • Enrolled to Registered Nurse Scholarships: Up to $15,000 annually for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Enrolled Nurses working in NSW Health facilities and studying a Bachelor of Nursing.


Cadetship Benefits:

  • A study allowance of $600 per fortnight for 40 weeks
  • A $500 per semester support allowance
  • 12 weeks of paid employment in a local public hospital or Justice Health facility
  • Mentorship and clinical support from Aboriginal mentors and cadet coordinators


Applications open until 23 February 2025.
