Police appealing for assistance after Griffith house fire deemed suspicious

Police are appealing for information following a suspicious house fire earlier this year.

About 6pm on Wednesday May 28 emergency services were called to Rae Road, Griffith, following reports of a house fire.

The owner returned home to find the house alight, and attempted to put out the blaze.

A short time later, Fire and Rescue NSW arrived and extinguished the fire.

The house was damaged and no one was injured.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District responded and established a crime scene.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Following inquiries, police are releasing CCTV of a man who could assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being around 180cm tall, medium build, short shaved dark hair with stubble.

He was wearing a maroon-coloured long sleeve shirt, grey knee-length cargo shorts, tanned lace-up work boots and sunglasses.

Anyone with information, mobile phone footage or CCTV is urged to come forward and contact Griffith Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
