Pooncarie Road between Pooncarie and Menindee on the east side of the Darling River is now fully sealed.

Central Darling Shire and Wentworth Shire Councils commenced work on the project in January 2021 and work was recently completed at the end of 2024.

The new road will provide easier access to essential services communities rely on, while also boosting freight efficiency and improving access for tourism.

A Menindee Community Event is being held to celebrate on Friday 28th February 10am-12:30pm at the Civic Hall.

"The sealing of Pooncarie Road will help the community access essential services, boost freight efficiency and enhance tourism," a Central Darling Shire spokesperson said.

"Service providers will also be in attendance at the event with a range of information for the community.

"Come join the celebrations!"
