The pair were awarded Life Membership and the main gallery was named after them.
Not only are the couple avid supporters and dedicated volunteers at the Balranald gallery, but Ken Spinks has established himself as a significant regional author.
He has multiple published works documenting local history and agricultural challenges, such as his 2013 publication “Balranald: Looking Forward - Looking Back” and his recent book “Australia on the Move – Soil Erosion”.
The couple's encyclopaedic knowledge spans local history, agricultural practices, environmental science and water management.
Ken's expertise stems from his lifelong farming experience and service on regional water advisory committees from the 1970s to 1990s.
June's background in education and her role as Ken's editor brings academic rigour to their collaborative work.
Their knowledge extends beyond agriculture to encompass detailed understanding of environmental issues, from soil erosion patterns to water quality concerns.
