The iconic White Cliffs underground motel is being offered for sale

The White Cliffs' Underground Motel, the largest underground motel in the world is being offered for sale by Out of the Ordinary Outback, the company currently responsible for the motel.

White Cliffs Underground Motel is one of only three “dugout”-style hotels in the country, where the temperature remains a conformable 22 degrees, regardless of scorching temperatures above ground.

The motel boasts 48 unique hotel rooms, a restaurant and cafe, a bar, museum and conference space, and has existing approval for expansion.

The remote community of White Cliffs best known for its opal mining history but is surrounded by ancient rock carvings from the traditional custodians of the nearby Mutawintji National Park – the people of the Pantjikali, Wanyuparlku, Wilyakali and Malyangapa Nations.

The asking price is currently undisclosed.

The motel is closed for it's annual summer break and will re-open in March 2025.
