Hay Lions Football and Netball Club are preparing their run to the finals series, in what is likely to be the final season of the Golden Rivers League.

After Ultima Roos applied to move into the Central Murray League (CML), it now appears that the remaining sides of Hay Lions, Murrabit, Wandella and Moulamein will also move into CML.

They will join neighbours Balranald Roos into the much larger competition featuring Woorinen, Mallee Eagles, Cohuna, Nyan Nyah West, Koondrook, Tooley Manang, Lake Boga, Kerang, Tyntynder and Swan Hill.

It is believed the 2026 season will see all teams play each other, before splitting into two divisions in season 2027.
