Griffith has 24/7 AED in Kooyo Street

Griffith City Council has installed a new 24/7 public Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) in Kooyoo Street.

Positioned on the exterior wall of the kiosk, the AED will provide fast, reliable access in an emergency. This central location offers excellent visibility supported by strong lighting and CCTV, ensuring the device is accessible when it matters most.

The device will be maintained regularly by Council teams to ensure ongoing readiness.

Griffith City Council’s website has an online map highlighting all Council-owned AED locations.

We’d like to thank Soroptomist Griffith for championing this initiative.

The AED storage box is under alarm and the AED will only issue a charge if it detects a heart in cardiac arrest.

Having access to a 24/7 AED give a significant increase in survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, providing immediate help before emergency services arrive, and giving the public peace of mind knowing that such a life-saving device is readily available.

AEDs, used in conjunction with CPR, can increase survival by 70 per cent if used within the first three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest.
