Featuring paintings inspired by his life as a farmer and horseman. Brown’s work offers a striking portrayal of the legendary Carrathool race day.
Drawing on his years breeding and training racehorses, as well as his experience facilitating life drawing sessions for artists, Brown brings both intimacy and grandeur to his subjects.
His paintings capture the horses, jockeys and race-goers set against the treeless plains of the region, where the spectacle of the sport of kings and queens unfolds against a stark, unforgiving landscape.
The result is a body of work that is both celebratory and contemplative, immersing viewers in the unique atmosphere of one of the Riverina’s most storied events.
“Carrathool captures the contrast between the pageantry of the races and the raw beauty of the land, reminding us that art can be both deeply personal and powerfully communal,” Gallery Coordinator Melanie Toscan said.
The public is invited to attend the official opening event on Friday September 12 at 6pm, where guests can explore the exhibition while enjoying light refreshments. The exhibition will be on display from Saturday September through to Sunday October 19.
