The Country team proved too strong, defeating City 26-14 in the annual Country v City match at Jubilee Stadium on the weekend.
The Country side included Leeton’s Braxton Wallace and Gundagai’s James Morgan.

Country lost halfback Chad O’Donnell to the sinbin in the 23rd minute, following a tripping incident, but the side did not concede, and second-rower Jacob Kernick found his way across the line, to score under the posts.
Country found the line again just before half-time when O’Donnell kicked to centre Matthew Soper-Lawler to score. Country went into the break with a 18-4 lead.
A revitalised City side started the second half strongly, when centre Vito Tevaga, carried defenders across the line with him to score.
With momentum behind them, City halfback Zac Greene kicked a well-timed 40/20 allowing City to shift the ball left to winger Steven Taupau Sako who scored. The margin reduced to four points.
Country took the difference out to a converted try, kicking a penalty goal in the 52nd minute, following some undisciplined play from City and the Country side was able to hold on for the win.
