Aboriginal artists invited to ICIP information session in Broken Hill

Local Aboriginal artists are being invited to attend an important information session about Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property next month.

The Create NSW First Nations team will visit Broken Hill on December 10 2025 to meet with First Nations artistic and cultural communities.

The session will be held at West Darling Arts, 242 Blende Street, Broken Hill, from 10am to 1pm. Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) encompasses all aspects of cultural practices, traditional knowledge, resources and knowledge systems developed by Indigenous people as part of their cultural identity.

The session will provide a briefing on current ICIP developments at both local and federal levels, followed by a discussion on ICIP issues that directly affect Aboriginal communities and cultural practices.

The Create NSW team is travelling across New South Wales to engage with First Nations communities about the importance and protection of cultural and intellectual property.

Aboriginal artists and cultural practitioners interested in attending can find more information through West Darling Arts or the Create NSW First Nations team.
