MASP welcomes boost to funding of Family Violence servicesMallee Accommodation and Support Program (MASP) welcomes the announcement of $4.7 billion over 5 years for Family Violence Support Workers and other measures to combat Family Violence

Mallee Accommodation and Support Program (MASP) welcomes the announcement of $4.7 billion over 5 years for Family Violence Support Workers and other measures to combat Family Violence from July next year agreed to by the

Commonwealth National Cabinet on Friday.

The five-year national plan announced by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will focus on four areas: supporting frontline services, preventing perpetrators from escalating their violence, providing more support for young victims and addressing the impact of alcohol on violence.

Part of the funding will also increase financial support for legal services.

MASP Manager – Family Safety Amy Cupper said the funding agreement would help boost MASP’s capability to work with families experiencing violence.

“With the rise in Family Violence across society as a whole, particularly in the Mallee, more Government investment in programs will go a long way towards supporting our work in helping those experiencing Family Violence,” she said.

“We look forward to working with Governments at all levels on ways to combat Family Violence.”
