Man refused bail after setting dog on police

A 58-year-old man has been charged after a traffic stop on the Cobb Highway near Hay, and alleged sets his dog on police.


Police allege the man was stopped by on October 3, after being observed speeding.

A subsequent drug test returned a positive result and the man was placed under arrest.

Police further allege 90 grams of cannibis and a large hunting knife was discovered, during a search of the man's vehicle.

The driver allegedly refused to attend hospital to give a blood test after being unable to provide a saliva test, and was issued a court attendance notice.

Police allege, after being given paperwork, the man removed a large dog from the rear tray of his ute, and attempted to set it on the officers.

The man was arrested a second time, after assaulting an officer and taken to Deniliquin Police Station.

He was charged with multiple offences and refused bail.
