About 6.20pm yesterday (Saturday 30 November 2024), police were called to High Street, Hillston, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and found a 37-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted by a 35-year-old man.

The older man was treated at the scene before he was taken to Hillston Hospital. He was later transported to Griffith Hospital in a critical condition.

The 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Hillston Police Station.

He was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Monday 2 December 2024).
