Last week, Barrier Police District detectives began an investigation after reports more than $700,000 cash was unaccounted for from ATMs in the Broken Hill area.
Following inquiries, about 1.30pm on Tuesday August 26, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Broken Hill, seizing digital devices, ATM security tags and keys.
While executing the warrant, a 32-year-old man was seen driving into the street before driving off after seeing police.
The vehicle was stopped nearby on Cummins Street and the man was arrested.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly seized $6,235 cash, ATM security tags and keys.
The man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged nine counts of larceny greater than $15,000, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.
Police will allege in court that a man allegedly accessed ATMs as part of his employment, depositing over $375,000 directly into personal and business accounts.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in in Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday September 9, 2025.
