Man charged over alleged Menindee shooting

A 50-year-old man has faced court charged with five offences following an alleged public place shooting in Menindee last month.

Barrier Police District officers were investigating a series of incidents in the community when they began inquiries into the alleged shooting, which occurred about 11pm on Saturday, November 8. Police were told four people were travelling in a vehicle in Menindee when they heard a firearm being discharged nearby. No one was injured in the incident.

Following their investigations, officers executed a Firearms Prohibition Search at an address on Bear Street about 9.15pm on Tuesday, December 16, where they allegedly located and seized ammunition. A crime scene was established at the property and forensic examinations were conducted.

The man was arrested at a unit in Broken Hill on Tuesday and taken to Broken Hill Police Station, where he was charged. He appeared before the Local Bail Division – Court 4 on Wednesday, December 18.
