Helen Dalton, Independent member for Murray, says Tania Pilbersek and her department could not run a bath.
Dalton was recently at Parliament for the second week sitting. She obtained a report from the Inspector General of Water Compliance. It detailed reported failures with the running of the Murray Darling Basin, flawed policies, untrained staff, serious conflicts of interest, failure to protect market sensitive data.
Dalton said the audit paints a grim picture.
“We've got to look after the Murray-Darling Basin,” Dalton said. “We have got to look into the Murray Darling Basin right now. Pilbersek should stop the buybacks. She needs to take heed of this report and make those necessary changes.”
This has been a time of big wins for Helen, with her Water Register Bill being accepted in Government.
“It's taken a lot of determination to get to this point but we jumped the hurdles and crossed the finish line,” Dalton said.
