Christmas party at pub goes south, results in $550 fine

A Griffith man received an unexpected $550 fine for Christmas, after refusing to leave a pub when asked due to his inebriation.

On Saturday November 22, a 31-year-old man had been rocking around the Christmas tree at the staff holiday party and attended a pub in Griffith.

In the very early hours of the next morning, staff asked him to leave due to his alleged state of liquid cheer. It is alleged the man refused and began searching for the party he was with.

The employees of the business attempted several times to encourage the man to leave, but it is also alleged he resisted, verbally and physically abusing the staff.

After the man was finally assisted exiting the pub, it is alleged he was trying to stoush with them outside.

Murrumbidgee Police took the man to the Griffith Police station where he was issued with his reverse Christmas gift voucher and a Criminal Infringement Notice for failing to leave a licensed premises.
