Following feedback to the Disability Inclusion Access Committee, charging facilities are now available at:
These venues are open on weekdays and weekends, giving scooter users more flexibility to top up their battery while accessing services and activities.
The Committee also discussed options for 24-hour charging access in Banna Avenue, with Kooyoo Mall identified as a potential location due to its lighting and CCTV coverage. Council staff have now modified an existing secured power point at the Kooyoo Kiosk to be accessible via the Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) system.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said the charging points would help make Griffith more accessible and inclusive.
“Mobility scooters are an essential mode of transport for many residents,” Councillor Curran said. “By providing charging points at key locations, we’re helping people stay active and connected in our community.”
