Breaking - One dead, another seriously injured in chopper crash

According to emergency services form Hay, one pilot is dead and another airlifted with serious injuries, following a helicopter crash north of Hay, NSW.


The Super Puma aircraft is believed to have been en route to South Australia for fire fighting duties, and is reportedly from a specialist service based in Albury.

It is reported that the helicopter experienced mechanical issues and attempted an emergency landing near One Tree, but was unsuccessful.

The deceased is believed to be a Canadian national, whilst the injured person is believed to be Australian.

Emergency services including NSW Ambulance and Police as well as crews from NSW Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service responded to the incident on a property on Corrong Road, north of Hay around 11am today (Friday November 22, 2024). The incident occurred approximately 15 kilometres along the Corrong Road, from One Tree.
