Barwon MP calls for review on weirs

Roy Butler MP has moved a notice of motion in NSW Parliament

Member for Barwon Roy Butler MP has moved a notice of motion at the most recent sitting of NSW Parliament. In a statement made on social media Mr Barwon said weirs are integral in Western NSW.

“Weirs are an integral part of water security for Western NSW,” Mr Butler said.

“That's why in the Parliament of NSW, I moved a notice of motion asking the House to:

  1. Notes the review of Western Weirs and subsequent connectivity reports have been running for 3 years now with considerable community concern.
  2. Acknowledges weirs are a vital component to water security in Western NSW, many precede licencing requirements being in place between 50 and 90 years without question.
  3. Asks the Government to provide a full list of weirs in Barwon where they have any plan to remove or reduce the height and if they have an agreement with the Commonwealth to do so.”
