The Heritage Park Reserve, known as the Balranald Discovery Centre precinct, has undergone significant upgrades that have created a vibrant hub celebrating local culture and history.
Major improvements include a $50,000 technology refurbishment of the Interpretive Pavilion, which introduced interactive storytelling and touchscreen displays celebrating local history and Aboriginal heritage. The precinct also features the newly constructed $700,000 Discovery Pavilion, offering flexible space for exhibitions, workshops and cultural events.
The precinct includes a visitor centre, museum and café that engage visitors and locals alike, creating opportunities for cultural education and community gathering.
By blending modern infrastructure with rich heritage, Balranald Shire Council has created a space that celebrates culture, fosters connection and supports regional economic sustainability.
The award, presented by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, recognises excellence in the management and development of Crown land across the state.
