Balranald football and netball results

Balranald seniors lost 21-175 to Mallee Eagles in a challenging away fixture.

The undermanned Roos team faced grand final contenders on their home ground, with difficulties compounded by having no bench after half time due to injuries. Despite the scoreline, all players tried hard throughout the match and never gave up.

Better players were Cody Henness, Jack Salau, Ian Fuller, Tom Salau, Sebastian Papa and Cruz Jolliffe. Sebastian Papa kicked two goals while Cody Henness added one.

Ian Fuller and Jack Helgeland both reached milestone 50th senior games for the Roos.

The Colts recorded another impressive victory, defeating their opponents by 52 points. However, they dropped to fourth position on the ladder due to large winning margins in other Colts games across the competition.

Better players were Tyrone Wickey, Levi Ryan, Ethan Phillips, Jacob Zanker, Bob Helgeland and Lucas Griffiths. Goal kickers included Eric Dowdy and Jacob Zanker with three each, Lucas Griffiths and Joseph Scalora with two each. Single goals went to Michael Garner, Bob Helgeland and Sebastian Papa.

Many Colts players stepped up to play additional games in the Reserves and Seniors to help fill undermanned teams.

Balranald Reserves lost 08-131 in a gallant effort with a severely undermanned side. The match required dusting off old football boots and assistance from Eagles players who wore Roos guernseys to ensure the game proceeded.

Better players were Jess Scott, Kane Farnsworth, Michael Linnett, Jett Militto, Ethan Phillips and Coopah Ryan.

The Under 15s lost 24-71 in a hard-fought contest against Mallee Eagles. Better players were Archie Alderuccio, Angus Potter, Hamish Matarazzo, Billy Fitzgerald, Keegan Hillerman and Will Cimino. Will Cimino kicked two goals, with Luke Myers and Billy Fitzgerald adding one each.

The Under 12s match ended in a goalless draw, 00-00.

In A Grade netball, A Grade lost a close contest 37-50 to Lalbert.

B Grade suffered a narrow seven-goal defeat, losing 43-50.

B Grade reserves were outgunned by Lalbert 27-57.

The Under 17s went down 29-38 in a competitive match.
