Australia Day Awards in IvanhoeIvanhoe Citizen of the Year Ian Edson

Ivanhoe Citizen of the Year for Central Darling Shire is Ian Edson (below right).


A member of numerous community and farm industry committees, Ian has volunteered with Darnick Bush Fire Brigade for 50 years.

He is also president of Teryawynia Landcare, member of NSW Farmers’ Association for more than 40 years and as executive of the Ivanhoe branch for 10 years and a representative on Western Division Council for many years.

Ian has lobbied and achieved local safety measures including railway crossing safety lights at Darnick, reinstallation of Darnick Railway Station platform for safe local rail passenger travel and extended travel hours (by two hours) for stock carting trucks to ensure animal welfare when travelling long distances.

He also supported his wife Trudie in helping to save the Ivanhoe RSL Club.


Damien McMaster (below left) was announced Volunteer of the Year for service to community events in Ivanhoe, including the campdraft and rodeo.

Josh Robertson (below centre) received the Outstanding Service to the Community as an advocate for mental health support, organiser of Ivanhoe Pig competition which raises money for the Black Dog Ride and various Ivanhoe non-profit groups.
