Farm Safety Training Week

Tocal College, Yanco Campus provides a wide range of short training courses for primary producers, small farm owners, new entrants to agriculture and horticulture.

Tocal College – Leader Workforce Skills, Vicki Magann said - Farm Safety Weeks play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety, preventing accidents, and cultivating a community dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of individuals in the agriculture sector. It provides the opportunity to hold training at your site and use your own equipment.


Hosting a Farm Safety Week locally offers numerous advantages for farmers, agricultural workers, and the broader rural community. Some of the primary benefits include:

Enhanced Awareness, Education and Training Opportunities, Decreased Accident Rates, Community Involvement, Improved Mental Health, Adherence to Regulations, Networking Opportunities.


We have created a schedule that allows for multiple courses to be run simultaneously. Making sure to align the topics so that participants can choose multiple sessions without overlap if possible.

Our aim is to create a valuable training experience that meets the needs of Industry whilst supporting local businesses such as Cafes, Restaurants and Motels.

We will be offering a range of courses throughout the week such as:

    • SMARTtrain chemical application (Level 3)
    • Tractors with attachments and front-end loader operations
    • Telehandler operations
    • Machinery hygiene
    • Working safely at heights
    • Working in confined spaces
    • Side by side operations
    • Quad bike operations


With fee-free training available for eligible participants, we aim to reduce financial barriers and ensure that all farmers can access essential safety training for their teams.

AgSkilled funding eligibility criteria below:

    • Live and work in NSW
    • Over the age of 15 and no longer at school
    • Work in the Agricultural industry in production of Horticulture, Viticulture, Grains, Rice, Cotton & Livestock
    • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or approved visa holder
    • Have not received funding for the same units in the past
